We are extremely proud of all the guys over at XpressionFM who are playing a charity fundraising football match in aid of The Foundation and are well on their way to raising over £1000. They have made the following very cool video to promote the event.
The following info about the event is taken from the guys' Virgin Money Giving Page:
"We are the Xpression FM (Exeter University Radio station for those not in the know) Sports Team and on the 17th March we are playing a charity football match to raise money for the Adam Stansfield Foundation.
This is a foundation that was set up in honour of the former Exeter City FC striker who tragically died at 31 whilst still an Exeter player. He had contracted Bowel Cancer and despite a seemingly successful operation, his condition deteriorated rapidly and he died on 10 August 2010, which shocked not only the City of Exeter but football as a whole.
The aims of the foundation are the promotion of community participation in healthy recreation. This is for the benefit of children and young people up to the age of 16 residing in Devon, Herefordshire and Somerset by the provision of grants and facilities for playing football.
The match will be the members of the sports team on Xpression FM up against the 'Barbarians,' a team made up of staff from the University. The game will kick off at 11am on the Rubber Crumb at the Sports Park at the University.
How the day will run:
11am - Teams warming up on the pitch, whilst on the sidelines there will be a cake sale that will run throughout the whole event.
11:15 - Kick-off. Spectators will have the chance to sign up for the half-time penalty shoot out and buy tickets for the raffle.
11:50 - Half-time penalty shoot out against a guest goalkeeper, with a prize on offer for the winner!
12:15 - Second-half will get underway, make sure you get behind the Sports team!
12:40 - At full-time the raffle and auctions will get going, with the chance to win some great prizes.
We would love for people to come down and support the team in our aim to raise as much money as possible for the foundation."
All of us at The Foundation are extremely grateful to the guys over at The University for arranging all of this and if you would like to donate you can by using this link: virginmoneygiving.com
