Hi Guys,
Just in case you have not read Barry's blog, this was the last update before his Knee forced him to stop running. 126 miles in 5 days was amazing. Barry will decide in the future whether he will be able to attempt this mammoth effort again. Thanks for giving it a go Barry, know how gutted you were that the knee played up, especially seeing as how well it was all going apart from that:
Awoke to a lovely day for running and a very sore knee... Gutted don't know what is wrong with it but stretched off and had to give it a go... Started running at about 9 40 about 10 miles north of Inverness had the wind with me so all in all everything in my favour apart from the right knee, which I tried to forget about ... Was going along OK but after about 5 miles it started to get really painful didn't want to stop but started to walk and was a very unhappy man... After a mile or so started jogging again and started and stopped all the way through Inverness until after about 20 miles it just became to painful to carry on gutted ... I sat in the car for about 45 Min's trying to decide what to do but in the end came to the conclusion that I had to stop . Thought about a rest day but just didn't think the knee would be OK after 1 day so in a mood I shut the car door and admitted defeat I was gutted ... The Foundation had helped me so much in organising this and I just felt bad for them but knew that really I would of been stupid to carry on. The worst thing is that the rest of my body, lungs, feet no blisters and energy levels were good but my knee just didn't want to know... I would like to take this moment to thank all who have supported me and all the messages I received they have been great I just wish my knee would of behaved...
Barry
